If you find that your mental health is impacting your daily life, speaking with a therapist can be beneficial. Talk therapy is often the initial step in addressing mental health conditions. However, it isn’t just for those with mental illnesses—almost everyone can gain from therapy. It can be a valuable tool for improving many areas of your life.
People often seek therapy when they:
· Are coping with the loss of a loved one
· Feeling lethargic, down, and disconnected.
· Have experienced a traumatic event
· Are undergoing a major life change
· Are experiencing significant stress
· Have intense emotions or behaviors such as anger or addiction However, you don’t need to be facing a major issue to go to therapy. We’re all works in progress, and therapy can help with that. Nobody is perfect, and many of us carry baggage and unhealthy patterns.

When someone calls for therapy, they want to start as soon as possible, so if we are full, we see the value in referring to other community providers. We are proud to have developed and launched MHKMentalHealth.org in collaboration with other providers. The site is an online live database of available mental health providers based on presenting issues, insurance, and other important factors when selecting a provider. Local providers register for the site and regularly update their availability. This service is offered free to providers and our community.
Sometimes, people are looking for a specific provider at Cornerstone, and we encourage them to call back occasionally to see if a particular provider is available.
